This Pavilion draws heavily on the concept of biomimicry. After visiting the botanical gardens located near the UC Berkeley campus, I chose an agave plant to draw inspiration from. I chose this plant as I felt the bends and curves in the leaves would provide an excellent source of shadows and shade while effortlessly blending in with the gardens. The pavilion is located in the main grass area of the gardens. My mission was to design a space that used natural curves to achieve seating and shade, which would allow guests to relax and enjoy the garden from a comfortable location that felt immersive to its setting.
